WG Carlough Woodworking

Est. 1981

Woodworking has been a passion of mine since high school.  I began designing pieces and collecting tools in 1974.  In 1981 while still in college at William Penn, I began designing furniture by commission while completing my Industrial Arts degree.  In time my shop and type of work I did grew.  For thirty years I taught a variety of high school shop classes. Besides furniture I have done extensive work with renovations and millwork for Victorian homes.

Now based out of Blue Grass, Iowa, my focus is on designing and constructing individual furniture pieces based on a customer's wishes.  The most popular pieces recently are Chess tables with a variety of hardwoods.  Other popular items include Toy vehicles, Charcuterie boards and Jewelry boxes made from exotic hardwoods.  Some of the heirloom custom work includes Queen Anne Style tables with cabriole legs, Victorian style bed frames and hope chests with dovetail joinery.
